Office 2010 Starter edition replaces the Works package. This edition is an ad-supported free version of Office 2010 which is available pre-installed on some new PC's.

PKC (Product Key Card) replace OEM versions and are available for new PCs only which are preloaded with the Office Image. This has the same rules as the OEM Office 2007 MLK:

• There is no media included
You will need to unlock the image with the PKC within 90 days of purchasing the PC
• The license rights are non-transferable - the license lives and dies with that PC
• Single install only
• There are no downgrade rights
• Software Assurance is only available for Office Professional within 90 days of purchase.

FPP or Full Packaged product
FPP or Full Packaged product is available for existing PCs without the Office 2010 image as well as PCs with the Office 2010 image not activated within the 90 days.

Properties include:

• Portable Device rights. This allows for installation on one PC and one portable device. Office 2010 Home and Student can be installed on up to three Devices
• The Product Key will unlock the preloaded image as well
• Media is included for PCs without the preloaded image as well as for backup
• Multiple installs
• There are no downgrade rights
• Transferable License
• Software Assurance is not available
• Upgrades will no Longer be available from previous versions

Volume Licenses are available for customers with existing PCs looking to better manage their licenses

• One License for one Device. Volume Licenses have portable Device rights as well
• Unlimited installs for all licensed devices
• Media is available for download or purchase from the VLSC site
• Downgrade rights to previous versions
• Software Assurance is only available at the time of purchase.

Software Assurance

Customers who have Software Assurance will be migrated as follows:

• Office 2007 Small Business, Professional and Enterprise can upgrade to Office 2010 Professional
• Office 2007 Standard Edition can upgrade to Office 2010 Standard Edition
